No.: 662

August, 1996

To: All Dodge and Jeep(R) & Eagle Dealers

Subject:
Safety Recall # 662 -- Motorized Shoulder Belts

Models:
1988 Through 1992 Model Year Eagle Premier and 1990 Through 1992 Model Year Dodge Monaco (BB-Body) Vehicles Equipped With Motorized Shoulder Belts

The motorized shoulder belts on these vehicles may exhibit the following conditions:

^ The carrier may not travel smoothly or may chatter. To correct this condition, the carrier track must be lubricated. This service should be done every 12 months to assure proper operation.

^ The carrier may be inoperative which will require that the track and drive assembly be replaced. Replacement service should be performed only if a motorized shoulder belt is already inoperative.

Instructions will also be sent to owners instructing them to lubricate the track. If the owner prefers not to lubricate the track or if the track and drive assembly requires replacement, owners will be instructed to make an appointment with their dealer for the service.

IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer inventory. Federal law requires you to complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail delivery. Dealers should perform this recall on vehicles in for service as determined by using DIAL System Function 70 or VIP.
