Owner Letter
SAFETY RECALL TO INSPECT AND REPLACE YOUR VEHICLE'S MOTORIZED SHOULDER BELTSDear Premier or Monaco Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1988 through 1992 Eagle Premier and 1990 through 1992 Dodge Monaco vehicles equipped with motorized shoulder belts.
The Problem Is...
The motorized shoulder belts on your vehicle (identified on the enclosed form), may move slowly or chatter in the track, and may eventually stop moving and become inoperative. An inoperative shoulder belt could cause increased injury to an occupant under certain accident conditions.
What you must do to ensure your safety...
^ You may inspect for motorized shoulder belt operation and lubricate the tracks yourself. To lubricate, use the enclosed lubricant and follow the instructions printed on the reverse side of this letter. The tracks should be lubricated every year, or sooner if you note that the rate of travel is slowing. You can obtain additional lubricant from your dealer. If both motorized shoulder belt systems operate properly and you perform the lubrication yourself, no further repair action is necessary. Please mark "LUBRICATED BY OWNER" on the pre-addressed Vehicle Disposition Form portion of the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form and put it in the mail. No postage is required.
^ If a motorized belt is inoperative, or if you prefer not to lubricate the tracks yourself, simply contact your dealer right away to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.
^ Bring the enclosed lubricant and Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. The form explains the required service to the dealer.
What Chrysler and your dealer will do...

If a motorized belt is inoperative. or if you prefer not to lubricate the tracks yourself, your dealer will lubricate and/or replace the track and drive assembly for you.
