Vehicle Ride Height
Fig. 16 Vehicle ride height specifications:
The vehicle ride height is adjusted by rotating the suspension bars clockwise or counterclockwise from its original position.
1. Measure vehicle ride height and compare to specifications shown.
2. Determine measurement necessary to raise or lower the vehicle, as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle.
b. Remove both rear wheels.
c. Remove shock absorbers as described previously.
Fig. 6 Threaded rod tool assembly:
d. Install, then adjust threaded rod tool Sus.Lm (A) with tool Sus.Lm.01 bracket until dimension X is 19.37 inches on sedan models or 18.97 inches on wagon models.
Fig. 7 Installing threaded rod tool assembly in place of shock absorber:
e. Position tool assembly in place of the shock absorber and attach it at point C. The spacer (A) from tool set T.Ar.1056 or equivalent must also be used.
f. Slip spacer (A) into the lower shock absorber mounting hole.
g. Mark position of the suspension torsion bars before removal.
h. Using a suitable tool, remove suspension bar. Do not attempt to change the vehicle ride height by use of the anti-sway (stabilizer) bars.
i. To raise vehicle ride height, lengthen the threaded rod to position the torsion bar to the next available spline.
j. To lower the vehicle ride height, shorten the threaded rod to position the torsion bar to the next available spline.
k. One spline change is equal to 0.118 inch.
l. After obtaining correct vehicle ride height measurement, remove threaded rod tool and install shock absorber.
m. Install wheels, remove supports and lower vehicle.
n. Check vehicle ride height, adjust if necessary.
