EVIC Displays Chinese Characters When The 'Sport' Button Is Pressed
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves removing and replacing the Instrument Cluster.
MODELS:
2012 (LC) Challenger (SRT Only)
NOTE:
This bulletin applies to 2012 model year LC vehicles built between November 15, 2011 (MDH 1115XX) and December 14, 2011 (MDH 1214XX) equipped with Instrument Cluster SRT Performance Information (sales code JAV).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) may display Chinese characters when the "sport" button is pressed (Fig. 1).
DIAGNOSIS:
If a customers VIN is listed in VIP or your RRT VIN list, perform the repair. For all other customers that describe the symptom/condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the Instrument Cluster. Refer to the procedures available in DealerConnect / TechCONNECT > Group 08 - Electrical > 8J - Instrument Cluster > Removal > REMOVAL.
2. Replace the Instrument Cluster following the standard cluster exchange process.
NOTE:
Include instruction with the returned cluster indicating that Instrument Cluster P/N 56046383AC is required for replacement and reference this Service Bulletin number.
3. Install the Instrument Cluster. Refer to the procedures available in DealerConnect / TechCONNECT > Group 08 - Electrical > 8J - Instrument Cluster > Installation > INSTALLATION.
4. Using wiTECH, confirm that the part number of the installed Instrument Cluster is 56046383AC.
5. Clear any DTC's that may have been set due to the replacement process.
