OPERATION





A self-contained silicone-fluid filled reservoir (1) and shear pump generate hydraulic pressure proportional to the speed difference across the axles. The speed difference between the feed disc (4) and fluid filled channel of the pump disc (5) , results in fluid shear forces moving the fluid from the reservoir to the apply piston (2). The axial fluid force on the apply piston (2) compresses the clutch pack (3). The resulting locking torque through the clutch pack transfer torque to the wheel with better traction. When the speed difference falls, fluid is bled back into the fluid reservoir.

NOTE: Differential is serviced as an assembly.
