Intermediate Shaft Extension - Removal

REMOVAL

NOTE: Review all Warnings and Cautions. Service Precautions .

1. Disconnect negative (-) cable from battery and isolate cable.
2. Secure steering wheel in STRAIGHT-AHEAD position using a steering wheel holder.









3. Remove coupling pinch bolt securing intermediate shaft (2) to intermediate shaft extension (1).
4. Slide intermediate shaft off extension.










5. Loosen one of the bolts securing extension bearing (1) in place. This must be done to allow adequate movement in bearing when removing or installing intermediate shaft extension.
6. Remove coupling pinch bolt securing intermediate shaft extension (2) to steering column (3) shaft.
7. Slide extension off column shaft, then slide extension out of bearing and remove from vehicle.
