Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE

1. Remove the Fuel Pump relay. The relay is located in the trunk near the power amplifier.
2. Start and run the engine until it stalls.
3. Attempt to restart the engine until it will no longer run.
4. Turn ignition key to OFF position.

CAUTION: Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 must be performed to relieve high pressure fuel from within fuel rail.

5. Reconnect the fuel pump relay
6. One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) may have been stored in PCM memory due to fuel pump relay removal. The DRB scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
