Fig. 9 Upper & Lower Control Arms Assembly. AWD:

1. Remove control arms as shown, noting the following:
a. Using tool No. MB990635 or equivalent, disconnect upper arm ball joint from knuckle assembly. Suspend tool with suitable rope to prevent dropping.
b. Loosen ball joint attaching nut, do not remove.
c. Lower lower control arm at crossmember side. Using tool MB990635 or equivalent, disconnect lower arm ball joint from knuckle assembly.
d. Loosen ball joint attaching nut, do not remove.
2. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Hold stabilizer link [1][2]ball studs with suitable wrench, tighten self-locking nut so protrusion of stabilizer link is within 0.197 to 0.276 inch.
