Oil Pump: Service and Repair



NOTE: Oil pan must be removed prior to removing oil pump.

1. Remove timing belt, refer to Timing Belt, Service and Repair for procedures.

2. Remove oil pan and pump in sequence shown, noting the following:






a. Knock oil pan remover tool No. MD998727 in deeply between oil pan and cylinder block.
b. Hitting side of tool, slide and remove oil pan.


3. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:






a. Install oil pump seal using seal installer tool No. MD998717, or equivalent.

NOTE: Knock seal even with surface.






b. Apply a bead of sealant around flange of oil pan.

Oil Pan Tightening Sequence:






c. Tighten oil pan bolts in sequence to 6 Nm (5 ft. lbs.) torque.






d. Install the drain plug gasket in the direction shown in the illustration.
