SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

A squealing noise coming from steering column when the steering wheel is turned.


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves lubricating the steering column shaft bearing.

1. From inside the vehicle, loosen the bolts securing the cover to the bulkhead.

2. Center the steering shaft bearing (located inside of cover) to the steering shaft.

3. Press down on the bearing and spray Mopar Silicone Spray, PN 4318070, or equivalent, between the steering shaft and bearing. See Figure 1.

4. Release the bearing, make sure it returns to the original position. NOTE: it may be necessary to pull up on the bearing to seat properly.
