1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove underbody splash shield.
3. Disconnect exhaust pipes.
4. Remove differential drain plug, and drain lubricant.
5. Remove reduction gear case to transaxle attaching bolts, reduction gear assembly, and gear case gasket.
6. Remove spring washers, Fig. 7, noting position for assembly reference.
7. Remove governor cover, and governor.
8. Remove governor valve attaching bolts, and valves, Fig. 8.
9. Remove one steel and two rubber seals from governor body.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque governor valve attaching bolts to 8 lb-ft.
b. Install new steel and rubber governor seals.
c. Coat new case-to-transaxle gasket with petroleum jelly and torque attaching bolts to 17 lb-ft.
d. Torque differential drain plug to 18 lb-ft.
e. Remove differential fill plug and fill with synthetic type, 75W-140 hypoid gear lubricant. Add lubricant until it flows from fill hole, then install fill plug and torque to 37 lb-ft.
