Throttle Body: Service and Repair

Throttle Body:






REMOVAL

1. Remove the air bonnet to throttle body screws and move the air bonnet to the side.
2. Disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) connector.
3. Disconnect the Automatic Idle Speed (AIS) motor electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle lever.
5. Remove the cruise control cable from the throttle lever, (if equipped).

CAUTION: Remove the cruise control connector with finger pressure only, damage to the connector requires complete cruise control servo and cable assembly replacement.

6. Disconnect the automatic transmission cable.
7. Remove the throttle return spring (if applicable).
8. Remove the throttle body mounting nuts at the base of the throttle body.


INSTALLATION

1. Install throttle body with a new gasket. Tighten mounting nuts to 17.5 N-m (13 lb-ft)
2. Reattach cruise control cable, if equipped.
3. Connect the accelerator cable to throttle lever.
4. Connect the automatic transmission cable.
5. Connect TPS connector.
6. Connect the AIS motor connector.
7. Reposition air cleaner bonnet, and connect the air bonnet to the throttle body. Tighten mounting screws to 3.9 N-m (35 lb-in).
8. Connect throttle return spring, (if applicable).
