Rocker Arms - Cold Engine No Start/Low Compression

1990 - 1992 (BB) Monaco

NOTE:
THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.0L PRV ENGINE.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

Cold engine no start, accompanied by a lack of engine cylinder compression.

DIAGNOSIS:

Using the Scan Tool (DRB II) and appropriate diagnostic procedure manual or the Mopar Diagnostic System (1991-1/4 & 1992 models only), verify that all vehicle engine systems are functioning as designed. If Trouble Codes (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are present, record them on the repair order for future reference and repair as necessary. If no codes are present and all systems are functioning correctly, perform the following repair.





PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

This repair involves the replacement of the engine rocker arm assemblies.

1. Following the service manual procedure, disassemble the cylinder head (Engine Installed) down to the step for "Remove the Rocker Arm Shaft Assembly".

2. Remove and disassemble the rocker arm shaft assembles.

3. Following the procedure outlined in the service manual, assemble the rocker arm and shaft using the new rocker arm assemblies (P/N J6007504) listed in the parts section of this bulletin.

4. Complete the installation of the cylinder head and related parts again following the procedure outlined in the service manual.
