Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

Fuel Pressure Regulator:




REMOVAL
CAUTION: The fuel system remains pressurized after engine has been shut off. Release pressure prior to opening system. Service and Repair
NOTE: Wrap fuel return tube connector with a shop towel to absorb any fuel released when tube is disconnected. Avoid disconnecting fuel fittings when engine is hot.
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Using tool no. 6182 or equivalent, disconnect fuel return line from regulator.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from regulator.
4. Unscrew inlet line nut from regulator.
5. Remove nipple fitting from the return side of regulator.
6. Remove locknut and washer, remove regulator.

INSTALLATION
1. Install regulator in bracket, place washer and nut on regulator and tighten nut.
2. Thread nipple fitting into regulator and tighten.

Fuel Line Disconnect Tool 6182:




Using Fuel Tube Disconnect Tool No. 6182:




3. Screw inlet line nut onto regulator and tighten.
4. Push vacuum hose onto regulator nipple.
5. Install fuel return line.
6. Connect negative battery cable, turn the key to the ON position to pressurize the system and check for leaks.
