Brake Caliper: Description and Operation
Fig. 1 Disassembled View Of Disc Brake Assembly:
This dual pin sliding caliper disc brake system uses a rotor mounted on a drive hub, brake pads, a mounting bracket and a single piston caliper.
Two pins which are mounted through sleeves and bushings in the caliper onto a mounting bracket control the movement of the caliper and the piston seal, to assist in maintaining proper pad clearance.
This assembly uses two anti-rattle clips, one mounted on the bottom end of each brake pad.
A molded rubber and metal dust seal protects the piston and caliper bore from corrosion, and is held in place by an inner lip which is seated into a piston groove.
