Power Door Lock Actuator: Service and Repair

DOOR LATCH AND ELECTRIC LOCKING MOTOR
Removal
1. Move window to down position and disconnect battery.
2. Remove trim panel.

Access Hole To Outside Handle Components:





3. Partially remove air and water shields.
4. (Connect battery if window is electrically operated), move window to up position.
5. Disconnect battery if not already disconnected.
6. Disconnect lock cylinder to latch link.
7. Disconnect outside handle to latch link.
8. Disconnect inside handle to latch link.
9. Disconnect inside lock remote to latch link.





10. If lock is electrically operated, drill out the two locking motor retaining rivets.
11. Remove three latch to door bolts.

Removing Lock Motor And Latch:





12. Remove latch, and if so equipped, the electric locking motor.

Installation
1. Transfer electric locking motor to new latch.
2. Install latch assembly and fasten to door with three bolts.
3. Torque bolts to 8 Nm (75 in. lbs.).
4. Fasten electric locking motor to door using two short 1/4-20 bolt/nut assemblies.
5. Torque the bolt/nut assemblies to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.).
6. Connect lock cylinder to latch link.
7. Connect outside handle to latch link.
8. Connect inside handle to latch link.
9. Connect inside lock remote switch to latch link.
10. Move window to down position.
11. Install air shield, water shield, and trim panel.
12. Connect battery.
