Brake Fluid Pump: Service and Repair

Hydraulic Assembly:





REMOVAL
1. Depressurize hydraulic accumulator as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES.
WARNING: Failure to depressurize hydraulic accumulator, prior to performing this operation, may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces.
2. Remove fresh air intake ducts (2) from engine induction system.
3. Disconnect five electrical connectors (including the one on the pump/motor) which runs across engine compartment in the vicinity of the pump/motor high and low pressure hoses.
4. Disconnect high and low pressure hoses from hydraulic assembly. Cap spigot on reservoir.
5. Disconnect transmission shift cable from transmission and position aside.
6. Disconnect pump/motor electrical connector from engine mount.
7. Loosen the two retaining nuts holding the pump/motor to the transmission differential cover.
8. Remove the two hose bracket to transmission retaining bolts.
CAUTION: Do not disturb the inlet water extension pipe as an engine coolant leak may develop.
9. Disconnect wiring harness retaining clip from hose bracket, then lift pump/motor assembly out of vehicle.
10. Lift pump/motor assembly off of studs and out of vehicle.
11. Remove heat shield from pump/motor and discard.

INSTALLATION
1. Install new heat shield to pump/motor bracket.
2. Reverse procedure to install.
