SYMPTOM/CONDITION

In the event a vehicle is returned for service due to moisture accumulation in the tail lamp, a repair has been developed to eliminate this condition. The repair involves drilling two vent holes in each tail lamp housing and the installation of two self-adhering dust filters per housing.


PARTS REQUIRED

1 Vent, Filter PN 4636356 (pkg. of 4)


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the rear liftgate scuff plate and lower the trim cover.

3. Loosen the rear lower trim panel and flex it out of the way.

4. Remove the retaining nuts from between the tail lamp closure panel and the metal tail panel. Disconnect the wire connector.

5. Remove the retaining nuts on the luggage compartment side of the metal tail panel.

6. Separate the tail lamp assembly from the closure panel and remove it from the vehicle.

7. Using the dimensions shown in Figure 1 below, drill two 6.0 mm (9/32 in.) holes (A).

8. Install a vent filter (B) over each hole as shown in Figure 2.
9. Reverse Steps 1-6 to install the tail lamp housing.

10. Repeat the above procedure on the remaining tail lamp housing.

11. Connect the negative battery cable.

12. Check the tail lamps for proper operation (tail lamp, stop lamp, etc.)
