A change in the cylinder head camshaft bearing cap, and the rocker arms on subject model vehicles equipped with 1.6L engines, will also change the positioning of the wave washer during assembly of the rocker arms to the cylinder head.

These modifications were effective in production on May 12, 1987, with engine #FK9798. The new cylinder head and rocker arms are not interchangeable with engines built prior to that date, unless the cylinder head and rocker arms are replaced as an assembly.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

This procedure illustrates the correct positioning of the wave washer on the new cylinder head and rocker arm assembly.

1. Refer to appropriate service manual for proper procedure to remove rocker arms.

2. Install new rocker arms with wave washer in position as indicated in Figure 1.
