SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Front disc brakes squeal during light-medium brake application.
DIAGNOSIS
Road test the vehicle and test for brake squeal during lightmedium brake application. If brake squeal is evident under these conditions, then it will be necessary to replace the front disc brake pads using the following procedure:
PARTS REQUIRED
1 Brake Pad Kit - Colt (Except Wagon PN MB407460
and Turbo)
1 Brake Pad Kit - Colt (Turbo) PN MD534486
1 Brake Pad Kit - Colt Vista (2-WD) PN MB534486
1 Brake Pad Kit - Colt Vista (4-WD) PN MB534489
REPAIR PROCEDURE
This procedure requires replacement of the front disc brake pads.
1.. Remove front brake pads per the appropriate service manual
procedure.
2. Discard old pads and shims.

3. When assembling the pads and shims, apply a film of the supplied grease to the contact surfaces on both sides of the anti-squeak shim (Figure 1).
NOTE : MOPAR MULTI-PURPOSE GREASE, PN 4318063, CAN BE USED TO LUBRICATE THE ANTI-SQUEAK SHIM IF THE SUPPLIED GREASE PACK IS MISSING OR LOST, OR THE BRAKE IS DISASSEMBLED FOR OTHER SERVICE.
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CARE NOT TO APPLY GREASE TO THE ROTOR CONTACT SURFACES OF THE BRAKE PAD.

4. The pads and shims, when installed in the vehicle, should be in the order shown in Figure 2.
5. Finish reassembly per the appropriate service manual instructions.
