Power Vacuum Brake Booster Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the brake booster vacuum reserve.




2. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster vacuum hose and check valve (1).
3. Remove the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement Removal and Replacement.
4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement Knee Bolster Replacement.




5. Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).




6. Remove the brake booster pushrod clevis pin (1).




7. Remove the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1).




8. Remove the power vacuum brake booster (1).
9. Remove the power vacuum brake booster gasket (2).
Inspect the gasket for damage and replace, if necessary.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the power vacuum brake booster (1) and gasket (2).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1) and tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb ft).




3. Install the brake booster pushrod clevis pin (1) to the pushrod and the brake pedal.




4. Install the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
5. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement Knee Bolster Replacement.
6. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement Removal and Replacement.




7. Connect the power vacuum brake booster vacuum hose and check valve (1).
