Filler Tube Replacement

Removal Procedure

Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.




1. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pocket bolts.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).




4. Remove the fuel fill pipe shield retainers.
5. Remove the fuel fill pipe shield.




6. Remove the fuel fill pipe bracket bolt (1).
7. Disconnect the fuel fill pipe vapor recirculation pipe (2) quick connect fitting from the fuel tank vapor recirculation hose (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
8. Loosen the fuel fill hose clamp (5) at the fuel tank.
9. Remove the fuel fill hose from the fuel tank (4).
10. Remove the fuel fill pipe assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the fuel fill pipe assembly.
2. Install the fuel fill hose to the fuel tank (4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

3. Tighten the fuel fill hose clamp (5) at the fuel tank.

Tighten the clamp to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

4. Connect the fuel fill pipe vapor recirculation pipe (2) quick connect fitting to the fuel tank vapor recirculation hose (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service (Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service).
5. Install the fuel fill pipe bracket bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




6. Install the fuel fill pipe shield.
7. Install the fuel fill pipe shield retainers.
8. Lower the vehicle.




9. Install the fuel fill pipe to fuel fill pocket bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

10. Refill the fuel tank.
11. Install the fuel fill cap.
12. Inspect for fuel leaks.
