Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (with C60)

Tools Required
J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.
Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube.

Important: Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables to prevent bending the cable housings.

5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket.
6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube.






7. Release the quick connect.
Disconnect the inlet heater hose (1) from the inlet pipe (2).






8. Disconnect the heater hose clamp using the J 38185.
9. Disconnect the inlet heater hose from the heater core.
10. Remove the inlet heater hose.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the inlet heater hose.






2. Connect the inlet heater hose to the heater core.
3. Position the heater hose clamp using the J 38185.






4. Connect the inlet heater hose (1) to the inlet pipe (2).
5. Install the transmission fluid filler tube.
6. Connect the throttle and cruise control cables to the TBI mounting bracket.
7. Install the air cleaner cover and intake tube.
8. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
9. Install the left wiper arm linkage.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

10. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 Nm (44 lb in).

11. Fill the cooling system.
