RPO Code C69 (HVAC RR Air Conditioner)

Compressor Pressure Relieft Valve Replacement (w/C69)

Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure
1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system.

2. Remove the discharge hose to A/C compressor nut.

Important: Immediately cap or tape the open A/C components immediately in order to prevent contamination.

3. Disconnect the discharge hose from the A/C compressor.
4. Remove and discard the seal washer and position the discharge hose aside.
5. Cap or tape the A/C compressor discharge port and discharge hose end fitting.

6. Remove the high pressure relief valve from the A/C compressor.

Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate the high pressure relief valve O-ring.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

2. Install the high pressure relief valve to the A/C compressor.

Tighten
Tighten the valve to 12 Nm (9 lb ft).

3. Remove the cap or tape from the A/C compressor discharge port and discharge hose end fitting.
4. Install a new seal washer to the discharge hose end fitting.

5. Connect the discharge hose to the A/C compressor.
6. Install the discharge hose to A/C compressor nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 Nm (12 lb ft).

7. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
8. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
