Ignition Lock Cylinder Case

Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement (Standard Column)

^ Tools Required
- J 41396 Park Lock Cable Pliers

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the Restraints system.
2. Remove the ignition lock cylinder.
3. Remove the steering column tilt head housing.
4. Remove the ignition switch only.
5. Remove the park lock cable assembly (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case.
A. Place the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position.
B. Place the shift lever clevis into the PARK position.
C. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the ignition lock cylinder case. Push against the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1).
D. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1) from the ignition lock cylinder case.





6. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (2) from the ignition lock cylinder case (1).
7. Remove the ignition lock cylinder case (1) from the steering column housing assembly.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the ignition lock cylinder case (1) onto the steering column housing assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (2) into the ignition lock cylinder case.
^ Tighten the pan head tapping screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).





Caution: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Coil Caution in Service Precautions.

2. Connect the park lock cable assembly (1).
^ Place the lock cylinder in the OFF-LOCK position.
^ Place the gear shift lever clevis into the PARK position.
^ Press the locking tab on the end of the park lock cable assembly (1) into the slot in the ignition lock cylinder case.
3. Install the ignition switch.
4. Install the steering column tilt head housing.
5. Install the ignition lock cylinder.
6. Enable the Restraints system.
