Fan Shroud: Service and Repair
Fan Shroud ReplacementRemoval Procedure
Caution: Refer to Electric Coolant Fan Caution in Service Precautions.
Caution: Refer to Damaged Fan Blade Caution in Service Precautions.
Important: If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean any foreign material from the cooling fan blades.
1. Remove the electric cooling fan assembly.
Important: Turn the cooling fan nuts clockwise to loosen.
2. Remove the cooling fan nuts.
3. Remove the cooling fans from the shroud.
4. Disconnect the fan motor electrical connectors.
5. Remove the fan motor screws.
6. Remove the fan motors from the cooling fan shroud.
7. Remove the heat shield screws from the cooling fan shroud.
8. Remove the heat shields.
9. Remove the cooling fan motor electrical harness from the cooling fan shroud.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the cooling fan motor electrical harness to the cooling fan shroud.
2. Install the heat shields to the cooling fan shroud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Install the heat shield screws.
^ Tighten the screws to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
4. Install the fan motors to the cooling fan shroud.
5. Install the screws to the cooling fan motor
^ Tighten the screws to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
6. Connect the cooling fan motor electrical connectors.
7. Install the cooling fans to the shroud.
Important: Turn the cooling fan nuts counterclockwise to tighten.
8. Install the cooling fan nuts.
^ Tighten the nuts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
9. Install the electric cooling fan assembly.
