Heater Hose - Inlet
HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - INLETTOOLS REQUIRED
J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
2. Remove the engine sight shield.
3. Remove the straps from the heater hoses.
4. Disengage the tension on the heater inlet hose clamp (1) at the engine block (3).
5. Remove the heater inlet hose (2) from the engine block (3).
6. Squeeze the 2 tabs on the side of the heater inlet hose connector (1) at the heater core (3). Pull the heater hose (2) back to remove from the heater core (3).
7. Disengage the tension on the surge tank inlet hose clamp) at the surge tank.
8. Remove the inlet hose (3) from the surge tank.
9. Remove the heater inlet hose assembly from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Apply coolant to all 3 ends of the heater inlet hose.
IMPORTANT: When installing a new heater inlet hose, place the clamps on the hose before installing the hose to the inlet hose fitting at the engine block.
2. Install the heater inlet hose (2) to the inlet hose fitting at the engine block (3).
3. Position the heater inlet hose clamp (1) at the engine block (3) using the J 38185.
4. Release the tension on the clamp (1).
5. Install the heater inlet hose connector (1) to the heater core (3) and push the heater inlet hose (2) in to secure.
6. Install the heater inlet hose (3) to the surge tank.
7. Use the J 38185 to position the surge tank hose clamp at the surge tank.
8. Release the tension on the clamp.
9. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
10. Install the engine sight shield.
