Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement - LeftRemoval Procedure
1. Remove the engine sight shield.
2. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) retainer from the ignition coil electrical connector (3).
3. Disconnect the ignition coil harness electrical connector (3).
Important: Twist the spark plug boot one-half turn in order to release the boot. Pull on the spark plug boot only. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or the wire could be damaged.
4. Remove the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
5. Loosen the valve rocker arm cover bolts.
6. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.
Important: Valve rocker arm cover gaskets are reusable. Replace the gasket only if damaged.
7. Inspect the valve rocker arm cover gasket for cuts or damage.
8. Clean and inspect the valve rocker arm cover.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a NEW valve rocker arm cover gasket if necessary.
2. Install the valve rocker arm cover.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Valve Rocker Arm Cover Bolts Torque Sequence - Left:
3. Tighten the valve rocker arm cover bolts in the sequence shown, using two passes.
- Tighten the bolts a first pass to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
- Tighten the bolts a final pass to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
4. Install the spark plug wires to the ignition coils.
5. Connect the ignition coil harness electrical connector (3).
6. Install the CPA retainer to the ignition coil electrical connector (3).
7. Install the engine sight shield.
