Transmission Mount/Support Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: If removal of the transmission mount is required, transmission removal is NOT required. If removal of the transmission support is required, transmission removal MAY be required.





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair in General Information.
2. Remove the transmission support nut.
3. Raise the transmission using a suitable transmission jack, just enough to allow removal of the mount.




4. Remove the transmission mount nuts (1) and washers.
5. Remove the transmission mount.
6. Remove the transmission mount bracket nuts (2) and washers, if required.
7. Remove the transmission mount bracket and bolts, if required.




8. If removal of the transmission support is required, remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement Transmission Replacement.
9. If equipped with a 6.6/7.2L engine and regular production options (RPOs) MK8/MK9, remove the transmission support bolts, if required.
10. Remove the transmission support, if required.




11. If equipped with RPOs MS9/MT3, remove the transmission nuts and washers, if required.
12. Remove the transmission support and spacers, if required.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the transmission support and spacers, if required.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. If equipped with RPOs MS9/MT3, install the transmission support washers and nuts, if required.

Tighten the transmission nuts to 163 Nm (120 lb ft).




3. Install the transmission support, if required.
4. If equipped with a 6.6/7.2L engine and RPOs MK8/MK9, install the transmission support bolts, if required.

Tighten the transmission support bolts to 195 Nm (144 lb ft).

5. If required, install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement Transmission Replacement.




6. If required, install the transmission mount bracket and bolts.
7. If required, install the transmission mount bracket washers and nuts (2).

Tighten the transmission mount bracket nuts to 71 Nm (52 lb ft).

8. Install the transmission mount.
9. Install the transmission mount washers and nuts (1).

Tighten the transmission mount nuts to 46 Nm (34 lb ft).




10. Lower the transmission and remove the transmission jack.
11. Install the transmission support nut.

Tighten the transmission support nut to 31 Nm (23 lb ft).

12. Lower the vehicle, if required.
