Generator Replacement (L18)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
3. Reposition the wiring harness boot.
4. Remove the harness lead nut and lead from the generator stud.
5. Disconnect the generator electrical connector.




6. Remove the generator bolts.
7. Remove the generator.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the generator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the generator bolts.

Tighten the generator bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).




3. Connect the generator electrical connector.
4. Install the harness lead and nut to the generator stud.

Tighten the harness lead nut to 8 Nm (71 lb in).

5. Position the wiring harness boot.
6. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
