Generator Bracket Replacement (L18)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement (LG5) Compressor Replacement (LG5)Compressor Replacement (L18) Compressor Replacement (L18) in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
2. Remove the cooling fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (L18) Service and Repair in Engine Cooling.
3. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
4. Remove the drive belt idler pulley, if equipped. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
5. Remove the wiring harness clip bolt.




6. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LG5) Generator Replacement (LG5)Generator Replacement (L18) Generator Replacement (L18).
7. Remove the fan pulley bolts and pulley.




8. Remove the generator bracket bolts and nut.
9. Remove the generator bracket from the stud.

Installation Procedure




1. Slide the generator bracket onto the stud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the generator bracket bolts and nut.

Tighten the generator bracket bolts and nut to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).




3. Install the fan pulley and bolts.

Tighten the fan pulley bolts to 45 Nm (33 lb ft).




4. Install the wiring harness clip bolt.

Tighten the wiring harness clip bolt to 24 Nm (18 lb ft).

5. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LG5) Generator Replacement (LG5)Generator Replacement (L18) Generator Replacement (L18).
6. Install the drive belt idler pulley, if equipped. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
7. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement Service and Repair in Engine Mechanical - 8.1L.
8. Install the cooling fan clutch. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement (L18) Service and Repair in Engine Cooling.
9. Install the A/C compressor, if equipped. Refer to Compressor Replacement (LG5) Compressor Replacement (LG5)Compressor Replacement (L18) Compressor Replacement (L18) in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
