Receiver Dehydrator Replacement (L18)
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
4. Loosen the condenser tube nut.
5. Disconnect the condenser hose fitting from the receiver dehydrator (1).
6. Remove the bolts from the evaporator hose retainer.
7. Loosen the evaporator tube nut.
8. Disconnect the evaporator tube from the receiver dehydrator.
9. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
10. Remove the bolts, washers, and the nuts from the bracket.
11. Remove the receiver dehydrator from the bracket.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the receiver dehydrator (1) to the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the bolts, washers, and the nuts.
Tighten the bolts to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
3. Install the washer and the bolt to the evaporator hose bracket.
Tighten the bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
Important: Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
4. Install the NEW O-ring seal.
5. Install the evaporator hose to the receiver dehydrator.
6. Install the evaporator tube nut.
Tighten the nut to 24 Nm (18 lb ft).
Important: Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
7. Install the NEW O-ring seal.
8. Connect the condenser hose to the receiver dehydrator.
9. Install the condenser tube nut.
Tighten the nut to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).
10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
12. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
13. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
