Condenser Tube Replacement (LG5)

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the right wheel house. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.




4. Remove the condenser fitting from the condenser tube (8).
5. Remove and discard the O-ring seal (3).
6. Remove the condenser tube fitting from the receiver dehydrator.
7. Remove and discard the O-ring seal (6).
8. Remove the condenser tube (8) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the condenser tube (8) to the vehicle.





Important: Coat the O-ring seal (6) with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.


2. Install a new O-ring seal (6).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the condenser tube fitting to the receiver dehydrator.

Tighten the fitting to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).

Important: Coat the O-ring seal (6) with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.


4. Install a new O-ring seal (6).
5. Install the condenser fitting to the condenser tube (8).

Tighten the fitting to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).

6. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
7. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
9. Leak test the fitting(s) of the components using the J 39400-A .
