Accumulator Replacement
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
4. Loosen the suction hose nut.
5. Disconnect the suction hose.
6. Remove the A/C low pressure switch and O-ring.
7. Disconnect the evaporator fitting (2) from the accumulator (1).
8. Loosen the accumulator bracket bolt.
9. Remove the accumulator from the bracket.
10. Remove and discard the O-rings.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the accumulator (1) to the bracket.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Tighten the accumulator bracket bolt (6).
Tighten the bolt to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
Important: Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
3. Install the NEW O-ring seal.
4. Install the A/C low pressure switch and O-ring.
Tighten the A/C low pressure switch to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
Important: Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
5. Install the NEW O-ring seal.
6. Connect the suction hose.
7. Install the suction hose nut.
Important: Coat the O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
8. Install the NEW O-ring seal.
9. Connect the evaporator fitting to the accumulator.
Tighten the nut to 41 Nm (30 lb ft).
10. Connect the electrical connectors.
11. Recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
12. Leak test the fitting(s) of the component using the J 39400-A .
13. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
