Battery Positive Cable Replacement - Auxiliary
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (1).
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable (2).
3. Remove the auxiliary positive cable from the battery.
4. Remove the auxiliary positive cable clips at the tan shroud.
5. Remove the fuse/relay center nut.
6. Remove the positive cable from the fuse/relay center.
7. If equipped with regular production options (RPO's) K68/K60/8B0/8Y8/5X7, remove the auxiliary positive cable from the battery.
8. Remove the auxiliary positive cable clips at the fan shroud.
9. Remove the cable clip at the fuse/relay center bracket.
10. Remove the fuse/relay center nut.
11. Remove the positive cable from the fuse/relay center.
12. Reposition the boot at the auxiliary relay.
13. Remove the auxiliary battery relay nut.
14. Remove the wire from the auxiliary relay.
15. If equipped with RPO 9L4, remove the auxiliary negative and positive cables from the battery.
16. Remove the negative and positive fuse holder screws at the radiator support.
17. Remove the auxiliary positive cable clips at the fan shroud.
18. Remove the cable clip at the fuse/relay center bracket.
19. Remove the fuse/relay center nut.
20. Remove the positive cable from the fuse/relay center.
21. Disconnect the power fuse center harness electrical connector.
22. Remove the auxiliary positive battery cable.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the auxiliary positive battery cable.
2. If equipped with RPO 9L4, connect the power fuse center harness electrical connector.
3. Install the positive cable to the fuse/relay center.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the fuse/relay center nut.
Tighten
Tighten the fuse/relay center nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
5. Install the cable clip at the fuse/relay center bracket.
6. Install the auxiliary positive cable clips at the fan shroud.
7. Install the negative and positive fuse holder screws at the radiator support.
Tighten
Tighten the fuse holder screw to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
8. Install the auxiliary negative and positive cables to the battery.
9. if equipped with RPO's K68/K60/8B0/8Y8/5X7. install the wire to the auxiliary relay.
10. Install the auxiliary battery relay nut.
Tighten
Tighten the auxiliary battery relay nut to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).
11. Position the boot at the auxiliary relay.
12. Install the positive cable to the fuse/relay center.
13. Install the fuse/relay center nut.
Tighten
Tighten the fuse/relay center nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
14. Install the cable clip at the fuse/relay center bracket.
15. Install the auxiliary positive cable clips at the fan shroud.
16. Install the auxiliary positive cable to the battery.
17. Install the positive cable to the fuse/relay center.
18. Install the fuse/relay center nut.
Tighten
Tighten the fuse/relay center nut to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
19. Install the auxiliary positive cable clips at the fan shroud.
20. Install the auxiliary positive cable to the battery.
21. Connect the positive battery cable (2).
Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
22. Connect the negative battery cable (1).
