Shift Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the front mat and carpet.
2. Remove the console.
3. Ensure that the transmission is in the mechanical neutral position.
4. Remove the retainer securing the shift cable to the shift controller.





5. Remove the tape and grommet on the shift cable from the floor panel.
6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





7. Remove the retainer from the shift cable and transmission bracket.
8. Remove the shift cable end from the transmission shift lever stud ball.
9. Remove the cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





1. Ensure that the transmission is in the mechanical neutral position.
2. Following the shift cable adjustment procedure, install the shift cable end of the shift cable to the transmission shift lever stud ball.
3. Install the retainer to the shift cable and transmission bracket.
4. Feed the shift cable through the floor panel.
5. Lower the vehicle.





6. Install the tape and grommet on the shift cable to the floor panel.





7. Install the retainer securing the shift cable to the shift controller.
8. Install the console.
9. Install the front mat and carpet.
