Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.

1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe from the fuel filter/regulator assembly. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar).
4. Remove the transmission.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV-1500.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV-3500.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E.
5. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe from the fuel composition sensor (FCS) assembly. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar).
6. Remove the fuel pipe assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.
^ Always re-attach the fuel lines and fuel filter with all original type fasteners and hardware.

Do not repair sections of fuel pipes.

1. Install the fuel pipe assembly.
2. Connect the fuel feed pipe to the fuel composition sensor assembly. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Metal Collar).
3. Connect the fuel feed pipe to the fuel filter/regulator assembly. Refer to Quick Connect Fitting(s) Service (Plastic Collar).
4. Install the transmission.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV-1500.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Manual Transmission-NV-3500.
^ Refer to Transmission Replacement in Automatic Transmission-4L60-E.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps.
6.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
6.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
6.3. Turn ON the ignition.
6.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
