Generator Bracket Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Separate the MAF/IAT sensor assembly and the air inlet tube by loosening the hose clamp.
3. Disconnect the PCV hose from the air cleaner outlet duct.




4. Remove the air inlet tube and resonator retaining wing nut.




5. Remove the air inlet tube and resonator from the throttle body by pivoting the air inlet tube and resonator upward until the hinge clip releases from the lip on the throttle body.
6. Remove the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.
7. Remove the drive belt.




8. Remove the bolt holding the bracket for the wiring harness and the A/C hose, if equipped, from the generator mounting bracket.




9. Remove the bolt holding the heater hose bracket to the generator mounting bracket.
10. Remove the generator.
11. Remove the drive belt tensioner.
12. Remove the drive belt idler pulley.




13. Remove the 2 bolts and the nut holding the generator mounting bracket to the engine.
14. Slide the generator mounting bracket off of the stud.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Slide the generator mounting bracket on the stud.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the 2 bolts and the nut.

Tighten
Tighten the generator mounting bracket bolts and nut to 41 N.m (30 lb ft).

3. Install the drive belt idler pulley.
4. Install the drive belt tensioner.
5. Install the generator.




6. Install the bolt holding the heater hose bracket to the generator mounting bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the heater hose bracket bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




7. Install the bolt holding the bracket for the wiring harness and the A/C hose, if equipped, to the generator mounting bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the wiring harness bracket bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

8. Install the drive belt.
9. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Cooling System.




10. Align the hinge clip with the lip on the throttle body.
Install the air inlet tube and resonator to the throttle body by pivoting the air inlet tube and resonator downward until the mounting stud is through the hole in the air inlet tube.




11. Install the resonator retaining wing nut.
12. Connect the PCV hose to the air cleaner outlet duct.




13. Connect the MAF/IAT sensor assembly harness connector.
14. Connect the battery negative cable.
