Battery Cable Replacement (Negative)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
3. Remove the bolts securing the negative cable to the engine.
4. Remove the negative cable from the power steering accessory bracket.




5. Remove the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.
6. Remove the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the frame.
7. Remove the negative battery cable.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the negative battery cable.

2. Install the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the block.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

3. Install the bolt anchoring the negative battery cable to the frame.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




4. Install the negative cable to the power steering accessory bracket.
5. Remove the safety stands.
6. Lower the vehicle.




7. Connect the negative battery cable.
