Condenser Replacement (L18)

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Remove the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.




4. Remove the bolt (4) securing the condenser tube to the condenser bracket (3).
5. Loosen the condenser nut.
6. Disconnect the condenser fitting.
7. Loosen the discharge hose nut.
8. Disconnect the discharge hose from the condenser.




9. Remove the condenser bracket bolts from the radiator mounting panel (3, 4).
10. Remove the condenser (1).
11. Install plugs into the condenser fittings.
12. Remove the mounting bracket bolts.
13. Remove the mounting brackets from the condenser.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the mounting brackets to the condenser (1).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the mounting bracket bolts (3, 4).

Tighten the bolts to 2.9 Nm (26 lb in).

3. Install the condenser.
4. Install the condenser bracket bolts to the radiator mounting panel.

Tighten the condenser bracket bolts on the radiator mounting panel to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

5. Connect the discharge hose fitting to the condenser fitting.
6. Install the discharge hose nut.
7. Connect the condenser tube fitting to the condenser fitting.
8. Install the condenser tube nut.




9. Install the bolt (4) securing the evaporator tube to the condenser bracket (3).

Tighten the bolt to 2.9 Nm (26 lb in).

10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
12. Install the left wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
13. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
