Battery Cable Replacement (Negative)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Cut the tie strap on the secondary battery negative cable.
3. Remove the negative battery cable nuts.
4. Remove the negative battery cables from the intake manifold studs.
5. Remove the secondary battery negative cable.




6. Remove the secondary ground wire bolt.
7. Remove the primary battery negative cable.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the primary battery negative cable.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the secondary ground wire bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the secondary ground wire bolt to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).




3. Install the secondary battery negative cable.
4. Install the negative battery cables to the intake manifold studs.
5. Install the negative battery cable nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable nuts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

6. Install a NEW tie strap on the secondary battery negative cable.
7. Connect the negative battery cable.
