SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble

Disassembly Procedure

Caution: Refer to SM Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble - Off Vehicle.
3. Remove the wire harness assembly (4) out of the wire harness strap (5).
Remove the wire harness straps (3) from the wire harness assembly (4).
Remove the wire harness strap (2) from the upper tilt head assembly (1).





4. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil from the steering shaft assembly using the following steps:
4.1. The retaining ring (1).
4.2. The inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2).
4.3. The wave washer (3).
