Fuel Supply Line: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURENOTE: Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.
1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Vehicle Lifting.
3. Disconnect the fuel feed and return pipes from the fuel filter/regulator assembly.
4. Remove the transmission.
5. Disconnect the fuel feed and fuel rail pipe from the fuel composition sensor assembly.
6. Remove the fuel pipe assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE:
^ Do not attempt to straighten any kinked nylon fuel lines. Replace any kinked nylon fuel feed or return pipes in order to prevent damage to the vehicle.
^ Always re-attach the fuel lines and fuel filter with all original type fasteners and hardware.
Do not repair sections of fuel pipes.
1. Install the fuel pipe assembly.
2. Connect the fuel feed and fuel rail pipe to the fuel composition sensor assembly.
3. Connect the fuel feed and return pipes to the fuel filter/regulator assembly.
4. Install the transmission.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
6.1. Turn ON the ignition for two seconds.
6.2. Turn OFF the ignition for ten seconds.
6.3. Turn ON the ignition.
6.4. Check for fuel leaks.
