Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.





2. Remove the protective shields as necessary.
3. Remove the rear exhaust system. Refer to Rear Exhaust System Replacement.
4. Remove the catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the oxygen sensor.





6. Remove the nuts (3) at the exhaust manifold.





7. Remove the front pipe from the exhaust hanger bracket.
8. Remove the front pipe.
9. Remove the exhaust seal and discard.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the new exhaust seal (1) to the exhaust manifold.
2. Install the front pipe.
3. Install the front pipe to the exhaust hanger bracket.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





4. Install the nuts (3) to the exhaust manifold.
Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts to 50 Nm (39 ft. lbs.).





5. Connect the electrical connector to the oxygen sensor.
6. Install the catalytic convertor. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement.
7. Install the rear exhaust system. Refer to Rear Exhaust System Replacement.
8. Install the protective shields as necessary.
9. Remove the safety stands.
10. Lower the vehicle.
