Flex Plate: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
2. Remove the engine cover from the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
3. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Remove the flywheel bolts from the crankshaft.
5. Remove the flywheel from the crankshaft.


Installation Procedure





1. Install the flywheel to the crankshaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the flywheel bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 90 Nm (65 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the transmission in the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement in Transmission and Drivetrain.
4. Install the engine cover in the vehicle. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement.
5. Connect the battery negative cable to the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure.
