Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the vehicle and support with safety stands. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the oil filter from the engine block. Clean the oil filter mounting surfaces.
3. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil. Clean the oil pan drain plug and mounting surfaces.


Installation Procedure

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





1. Install the oil filter to the engine block. Tighten the oil filter to oil filter manufacturers specifications.
2. Install the drain plug to the oil pan.
^ Tighten drain plug to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Fill the crankcase with oil. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
