ABS and Traction Control

Observe the following precautions when working on a vehicle that is equipped with ABS:
^ Turn the ignition OFF and disconnect the EBCM connectors prior to welding any part the vehicle with an electric welding unit.
^ Do not use a fast battery charger for starting the engine.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

^ Disconnect the negative battery cable when fast charging the battery.
^ Never disconnect 4 battery cable from the battery while the engine is running.
^ Connect all wiring harness connectors securely.
^ Note the routing, position, mounting and locations of the following items when servicing the ABS:
- Components
- Wiring
- Electrical connectors
- Retaining clips
- Brackets
- Brake lines
^ Route and secure the speed sensor circuit wiring properly in order to prevent damage and signal interference due to electrical noise. Maintain or restore the original condition of the ABS in order to achieve a correctly functioning and reliable system.
