Power Steering Pump Flow Control Valve Replacement - Off Vehicle (Saginaw with JE3)

Disassembly Procedure




1. Remove the reservoir cap (1) from the reservoir assembly (6).
2. Drain the oil from the reservoir (6).
3. Remove the connector and fitting assembly with the fitting assembly O-ring seal (4) from the reservoir (6) and the pump housing assembly (7).
4. Remove the control valve assembly (3) from the pump housing (7). Make sure the flow control spring (2) does not fall out of the pump housing (7).

Assembly Procedure




1. Install the flow control spring (6) if removed from the pump housing (7).
2. Install the control valve assembly (3).
3. Lubricate the new fitting assembly O-ring seal (4) with power steering fluid.
4. Install the fitting assembly O-ring seal (4) to the connector and fitting assembly (5).
5. Install the connector and fitting assembly (5) to the reservoir (6) and the pump housing (7).

Tighten the connector and fitting assembly (5) to 55 Nm (40 lb ft).
