Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Service and Repair.
3. Remove the intake manifold plenum.
4. Disconnect the vacuum line to the regulator.

5. Remove the snap ring (1) from the pressure regulator housing.
6. Place a towel under the regulator to catch any fuel.
7. Remove the pressure regulator (2) from the fuel socket by twisting back and forth while pulling the regulator from the socket.
8. Remove and discard the following components:
* The pressure regulator small O-ring (6)
* The filter (5)
* The large O-ring (4)
* The O-ring backup (3)
Installation Procedure
Diagram:
1. Lubricate the new pressure regulator O-rings (4,6) with clean engine oil and install on the regulator inlet as a complete assembly.
2. Install the snap ring retainer (1) into the slot on the fuel regulator housing.
Important:
1. Verify that the retainer is engaged in the slot in the pressure regulator housing.
2. Grasp and pull on the regulator (2) to ensure that it is properly seated.
3. Turn ignition to ON for 2 seconds.
4. Turn ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition to ON again and inspect for fuel leaks.
3. Connect the vacuum line to the regulator.
4. Install the intake manifold plenum.
