Discharge Hose Replacement (LP4/L21)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls.
2. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the vehicle. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.





Important: When removing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting onto the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers (7) and (6)

* The hose fitting (1) and (4)


Clean all of the surfaces with a lint-free cloth.


3. Remove the compressor hose fittings, clamp, bolt and the washer.




4. Remove the refrigerant hoses (1) and (2) from the compressor.
5. Remove the plastic strap from the compressor hoses.
6. Remove the compressor sealing washers.
Discard the compressor sealing washers.




7. Remove the following components from the condenser:

1. The bolt (2)
2. The washers (3)
3. The hose clamp (1)

8. Remove the condenser hose fitting.
9. Remove the O-ring seal.
Discard the O-ring seal.

Installation Procedure

1. Coat the NEW O-ring seal with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
2. Install the NEW O-ring seal in the condenser end of the refrigerant hose.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Connect the condenser hose fitting to the condenser.

Tighten the condenser hose fitting to 18 Nm (13 lb ft).




4. Install the following components to the condenser:

1. The bolt (2)
2. The washer (3)
3. The hose clamp (1)

Tighten the condenser hose clamp bolt to 11 Nm (97 lb in).

Important: When installing the sealing washers, prevent dirt and foreign material from getting onto the sealing surfaces of the following components:


* The washers

* The hose fittings


Do not reuse the sealing washers.


Do not oil the sealing washers prior to assembly.


Clean all of the sealing surfaces with a lint-free cloth.


5. Install NEW sealing washers onto the pilots of the fittings. Ensure that the washers bottom against the surface of the hose fitting.





Important: Ensure that there is a 1.2 mm (0.047 in) space between the hose fitting and the compressor rear head.


6. Install the compressor hose clamp, washer (3) and the bolt (2).

Tighten the compressor hose clamp bolt to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

7. Remove the plastic strap from the refrigerant hoses.
8. Install the air cleaner outlet front duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct Replacement in Engine Controls.
9. Add the refrigerant to the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing Leak Testing.
